From December 2000 till December 2007 Lieuwe Zigterman wrote a column in every issue of the Dutch OV-magazine (Public Transport Magazine). During the first years, these coumns were titled: The Engineer.
From 2006 the columns were published under the title: Lieuwe Zigterman.
From 2008 till 2016 others shared his page in the magazine: the changing lane.
As the oldest name of the column implies, the subjects treated often concern technical issues. Like the profile of the rail, the gauge, the traction system (different all over Europe). Or a discussion about the gravity, used in railway signalling systems.
But Lieuwe Zigterman also discussed policy issues, like: the Japanese example,
the unavoidable failing of Railtrack,
parallels between KLM and NS
are some examples.
The Superblunder of the Superbus project is the title of his column of August 2008.
Lieuwe Zigterman participated in a discussion with Carlo van de Weijer about the nonsense of automatic driving. A double interview with Carlo van de Weijer and Lieuwe Zigterman is published in OV-magazine nr. 4 of 15 September 2016 (in Dutch).
